Location: Auditions will be held in The Round Top Center at Beneficent Church at 300 Weybosset St, Providence, RI. Auditions will be scheduled in 10 minute time slots on a first come-first served basis.

This production features a cast of six actors playing seventeen roles. Mozart and Salieri are not double-cast. There are four Ensemble members who will play all of the other characters listed below, including the non-speaking parts. The Venticelli are split into four. The final breakdown of roles will be determined by the director at a later date. All actors must be able to make strong physical and vocal character choices.
Preparation: Actors will be reading from sides at the auditions. Sides will be available at the audition, or can be requested ahead of time by contacting info@elementaltheatre.org after July 20th.
Please prepare a movement sequence of around 30 seconds, with or without music, that shows a variety of physical abilities, such as timing, shape improvisation, strength, agility and character transformation.
Any experience in a capella, opera, and/or sacred choral music is particularly welcome, although singing is not a requirement and actors do not need to prepare any music for the audition. Minority actors are encouraged to audition – Elemental Theatre and Big Table Productions are Equal Opportunity Employers.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – a childish man, impulsive, scatalogical and inspired
Joseph II – Emperor of Austria, music afficionado, used to having his way but likes to avoid conflict
Count Johann von Strack – Royal Chamberlain to the Court, a court official to his collar bone
Count Orsini-Rosenberg – Director of the Imperial Opera, benevolent to all things Italian, including Salieri
Baron van Swieten – Prefect of the Imperial Library, ardent Freemason, lover of old music and lacking any sense of humor
The Venticelli – purveyors of information, gossip and rumor
Salieri – Italian Composer and later Kapellmeister to the Court (this role has been cast)
Constanze Weber – wife to Mozart (this role has been cast)
